Boots - It is essential that everyone has stiff soled winter mountain boots that are compatible with crampons. For introduction to winter mountaineering B1's or B2's are recommended. The guides will not take you out of the ski area if anyone in the group doesn't have winter boots and this diminishes from the experience for everyone else. I would strongly encourage everyone who is keen to invest in a pair; they will make your experience of winter mountaineering both more enjoyable and much safer! Whilst expensive, they are very robust so will last you for several years. If you have more questions about this please speak to a committee member. Good outdoor shops such as Cotswolds can offer lots of advice and give you a boot fitting. (Don't forget club members get 15% discount at Cotswolds.
