Haydn's blog report is here.
Lost. getting way of route, well it looked like the easiest way of climbing it, untill all my protection fell out.
Slate. looks amazing! really want to go back, hopefuuly in the dry and without the scrambling over barbed wire fences and slate scree.
Falling down wall, must have done some damage to someones car.....
A V-diff in the rain, wasnt as bad, as i expected, apart from the belay with my foot in a puddle.
Despite some problems with roofracks, roundabouts and Rob losing his jumper everyone arrived in Wales in a good mood and looking forward to the weekend ahead. Plans for the next day were made and everyone dissapeared to bed, some in shock after being told about the 6.30am start the next day!
The next morning there was no sign of the good weather we had been promised as we could barely see a quarter of the way up the hillside in front of the hut due to the clouds. Breakfast was eaten and the different groups set off. Rob and Ben J lead a large group on a reverse of the Snowdon Horseshoe giving many of the new members a 1st taste of the MPS with a very wet decent of Crib Goch, tea in the Snowdon cafe and "singing" in a Scottish accent. Phil, Ben L, Rosie and Emma climbed the Parson's Nose and the continuing scramble to the top of Snowdon and down Crib Goch making full use of the daylight. Haydn, Sean and Josh climbed several routes on Tryfan in big boots and John and Jaqui did some some routes in the Pass.
When everyone was back at the hut a tasty meal was prepared with a massive excess of pasta! All of the older members spent the rest of the evening in the pub with the only two new members with the energy left to join them as the others headed to bed to recoup for the next day.
The next day dawned with even worse weather than the 1st with fairly heavy rain. Smaller walks were undertaken on the Glyders and a scramble up Tryfan. There was a shortlived attempt at slate climbing before a hasty retreat to a cafe in Llanberis. By 4.30 the hut was cleaned, the pasta disposed of, the wall given up on and the minibus packed and we left just as the sun came out for the 1st time! We arrived back in Nottingham by 8.30 and everyone headed home for some well needed sleep.
Overall I think it was a very sucesfull 1st trip and we hope to see all of the new members who turned up on future trips when we will be heading to Scotland!
P.S. My Grandad was at the hut the week after and he said he's never seen it so clean so thanks very much for the help!
