Nottingham Indoor Wall Monday 16th October 4pm
If you want to look up what we climbed, this site has it all. Most of us climbed Sociology, Crack and Corner, and Heather Wall, in the Grotto Slab and Manchester Butress areas.
Some awesome leading by Graham, Jon and Chris fiddling with their nuts meant that the rest of us could second the routes.
Some terrible driving by Ed who managed to take more wrong turns on the way the the peaks than he does going to Scotland. not helped by the fact that Mr Suddards seems to have the wrong chromosomes to navigate (so don't let him loose on the mountains).
(ok, so perhaps it wasn't quite that overhanging in the picture of Grahame, but I think it was more or less vertical!)
After a quick introduction to rope-work Matt Suddards, Baz and Vicky experienced their first climb on rock on 'Grotto Slab'. Chris led and Suzie succesfully left her chalk handprint marks all the way up the route. On request, Franco very kindly soloed 'Grotto Slab' to deliver Chris his Jacket and Boots but refused to do it again with his sandwiches. Fueled by his success Matt Suddards followed Chris up 'Right Twin Chimney'. "Like a rat up a drainpipe". Chris then chickened out half-way up 'Leaning Buttress Crack' and took an alternative route to the top but Matt Suddards seconded it properly with Disco Leg-a-plenty. Matt Chesworth was last up (with ease).
