The Woolpacks Round is a solo event, involving the ascent of the 8 main woolpack pineapples in the shortest possible time. Note that you must stand on the highest point of the rock, not simply reach up and touch it. The record stands at 6 minutes 18 seconds set by Simon Waddicor on 4 August 1990. At a malt Whisky price of twenty pounds, this represents an hourly wage of 200 pounds, thus probably beating going to work, so why not give it a go.
The round starts at the base of the Lurve Rock and continues as follows, with intermediate times given below for the record, and for 'Mad' Martin Beetham's vice-record, the only other known serious attempt. The original order should be followed if you want the whisky. A shortened version covering just the five pineapple-grade rocks of the time, Lurve Rock to Percy in 3 minute 9 seconds is also eligable for Whisky-winning purposes.
Lurve Rock 0:08 (0:18)... Run Rock 1:25 (2:12)... Prince Charles 2:03 (4:07)... Iggy 2:41 (5:04)... Percy the Whale 3:09 (6:02)... Wet and Slimey Crack 4:22 (7:16)... Scrape and Scour 5:02 (8:07)... The Rock Monster 6:18 (9:29)
