My first MPS trip, Winter Skills in the Cairngorms, looking cold in a snow hole!
Hi, my name is Rob and I am this years Meets Sec which means I'll be organising this years trips and weekends away. The weekends away I've organised so far are a mixture of classic and new Scottish locations with a couple of shorter drives to the Lake District and Snowdonia. Some of the bunkhouses look really good, great locations and the chance for lots of us to get out into the mountains. I'm in my 3rd year now and joined MPS halfway through first year. I started walking and mountaineering in the Scouts and have really enjoyed the chance to get to some amazing places with MPS.

I'm more interested in the walking, scrambling and fell running side of mountaineering (compared to the clubs traditional and winter climbers). I took up orienteering at the beginning of 2012 to improve my map reading and to get a sense of adventure and challenge when I can't get to the mountains. The highlight of my time at MPS was completing the Lowe Alpine Mountain Marathon in June which is basically a two day mountain orienteering race in pairs, where you carry camping gear and are totally self-sufficient (report here).
