This is a race organised by Nottingham Athletics Club, teams of four each go around a two mile circuit of Nottingham Campus, which if I had a scanner and a lot of free time I would up load but I don't.
At 1.00 Vince arrived at the downs. Just in time to watch the female racers stretching and getting ready to race in their tight clothing.
The mens event started at 2.30, I think, with Vince starting the race for team MPS (only two of the team being at Uni and one not even in the Club)
As the first runners started to come in after about 9 minutes 30 seconds for 2 miles we started wondering where Vince had got to and why he wasn't leading. Eventually we saw him in his red shorts come running down from Hallward.
Next up was Paul who started off at a pretty good speed and powered around the two miles setting MPS's fastest time by one second at 12 minutes 14 seconds.
Greg set of looking rather worried about how serious everyone was taking this with their stupid purple vests (Loughborough) whilst he just had some track suit bottoms and t-shirt. As we watched him come down the downs at the end he looked like death crossing the line and tagging Nick before collapsing exhausted on the floor.
Nick with all his fancy gadgets set of for the final lap of the race, by now Loughborough had already won the race as they try too hard and practice too much. At this point Paul left to catch a train to go on a Skiing Holiday. Dedication. Nick finished the race with our second fastest time meaning we finished in 43rd place out of 52.
At the prize giving where we got a free buffet which Vince completely demolished we were thought we could have been the fastest non-running club team and were very disappointed to hear that Excercise and Sports Medicine had won in 33rd place.
All in all it was a fun day and everyone did really well in our team and we should have won because Excercise and Sports Medicine should be considered a running club as they were really good.
