Chippy not serving any more fish by the time we got to Penrith, late due to using the Scotch Corner route in error.

Awesome views of Ben More on the Sunday morning

Narnia boulders, how cool were they!!

Lashing it down.

Ale- need we say more?

Rain- absolutely torrential, with flooding on the roads.

Incendiarists successfully making fire in the hut using er, whatever came to hand.

Cobbler

Hoizontal hail stright into the face, bad enough in the daytime, at night.....

Saturday: in a moment of extreme optimism, some of us decided to go climbing on the Cobbler. Having lugged the gear up about 800m ascent, we found (what we assumed was) the crag enveloped in thick cloud and rather wet. At this point, Brannock suggested that we "find some boulders and climb them instead". When challenged, he denied that he was suggesting that we go bouldering. On an MPS trip. In the rain. Needless to say, we didn't climb any boulders- merely using them as shelter from the rain/hail/sleet. Somewhat overshadowed by subsequent events, but it made me laugh at the time.... The attempt at climbing, that is.

Sunday: After the general fail of the day before John and Ben thought it would be a good idea to get up at 3.30am to try and do 4 Munro's. Turns out this was a bad idea as for some reason, unrelated to the quality of the food from the night before, we both had stomach pains. After struggling through the driving hail and rain to get to the top of Ben More we decided to persevere before lack of food caused us to retreat after having only done 3 of the 4 munros. Yet again Cruach Ardrain eludes me!!
