Peru Meet report

Summer Trip 2007

This is getting confusing - lets keep Peru on Peru page and Alps on this page

Please note the Alps (and Peru) trips are not official MPS organised trips, but a group of people who know each other through MPS meeting up to do stuff togther in the Alps. As such you will need to take responsibilty for booking your own travel, flights, and alpine insurance (a must). Some Scottish winter experience is advisable, especially for those wanting to do graded alpine routes.

Location

Zermatt
Advantages

  • Lots of 4000m mountains havnt done yet
  • Know the area from last year
  • Monte Rose Traferse
  • FOAM PARTY!

Disadvantages

  • Done many of the easier routes in the area
  • Fairly expensive area
  • Not much climbing about

Chamonix
Advantage

  • Mont Blanc
  • Easy to meet up with Convillers
  • I havn't done any mountain routes there yet
  • Leffe comes in pints!
  • Tackle the climb that knackered me and show it whose boss

Disadvantages

  • BERNARD
  • Area been explored alot by previous years in the alps

Dolomites
Advantages

  • Lots of Via Feratta to do
  • In Italy

Disadvantages

  • Smaller mountains (probs not a disadvatage)
  • take more investigation into area as not been to before (again, not a huge problem)

Training

"Application forms [for Conville courses] are available from the BMC from early March each year, selections are made early in May. The deadline for application is usually end Apr / early May." Track the BMC website for details

Leeds Ice Wall is definately shut - I called them (Fabian). They are looking into moving premises, but that will take time.
